Entry for German Nationals  
Travellers are exempt from holding a visa for a stay of up to three months, provided they hold a national passport or identity card valid for at least the intended period of stay, the tickets (unless entering the country by car) and documents required for their return or onward journey, and sufficient funds for their stay.

Geographical Location  
The Kingdom of Norway is located in the western part of the Scandinavian peninsula. To the east the country is bordered by Sweden, to the north-east by Finland and the Russian Federation. It is a mountainous country with deep fjords whose narrow and many-branched bays, encased by almost vertical up to 1,500 m high cliffs, stretch far into the Southern Norwegian Highlands.
Spitsbergen is also a part of Norway. Position: 74°-81° northern latitude. To the north, the group of islands borders the pack ice. The midnight sun shines from April to August, the polar night is from November to February (both natural phenomenons are dependent on the position/latitude).
Total area: 323,877 km²; Spitsbergen and Jan Mayen 63,080 km².
Administrative divisions: 19 provinces (fylker).

Telephone  
The international dialling code for calls from Western Europe to Norway is 0047, then the eight-digit individual telephone number must be dialled; for international calls from Norway, the prefix "00" must be dialled prior to the relevant country code (in the case of calls to Germany, for example, 0049). Public phone boxes and telegraph offices are available. Phone boxes operate with NOK 1, 5, 10, and usually also NOK 20 coins. Phone cards (telekort) can be purchased at kiosks and in post offices in denominations of NOK 40, 90, or 140. It is also possible to receive calls in phone boxes; the relevant number is given in the respective box. In rural regions it is often possible to make calls from specially marked private houses.

Clothes  
In spring and summer Western European clothes. Rain must be expected at all times, particularly on the west coast. From the beginning of October to the end of April warm clothes should be taken; boots or lined shoes are invariably needed.
