Clothes
Light, airy and easily washable summer clothes are appropriate; light woollen clothes should also be taken for the evenings, and warmer clothes are needed for stays in mountainous areas during the winter months - in Sana'a, for example, night temperatures may fall below freezing point during this season. In general, there are large fluctuations between day and night temperatures throughout the mountains.
Travellers are strongly recommended to take sturdy shoes, good sunglasses and protection against the sun; some sort of hat is likewise essential. The clothes chosen for the stay should meet the requirements of the moral code of the conservative Islamic population; for example, no shorts (this also applies to men), sleeveless or close-fitting clothes should be worn. Women should invariably carry a headscarf.
