Entry for German Nationals  
Travellers are exempt from holding a visa for an unlimited stay, provided they hold a national passport valid for at least the intended period of stay. For a stay of up to three months a national identity card ("Personalausweis"), valid for at least the intended period of stay will be sufficient. In addition, sufficient funds for the stay must be held.
It is possible to take up employment according to EU regulations without obtaining a work permit.

Geographical Location  
The Republic of Poland is located in the north-eastern part of Central Europe. To the north it is bordered by the Baltic Sea and the exclave Kaliningrad of the Russian Federation, to the north-east by Lithuania, to the east by Belarus and Ukraine, to the south-east by the Slovak Republic, to the south-west by the Czech Republic and to the west by the Federal Republic of Germany.

There are two modes of postal transport: the so-called priority letter (which is more expensive but faster: a letter sent to another European country will take 3 days to arrive) and the cheaper standard letter (postal delivery within Europe country takes 3-7 days).

Telephone  
The international dialling code for calls from Western Europe to Poland is 0048; for international calls from Poland, the prefix "00" must be dialled prior to the relevant country code (in the case of calls to Germany, for example, 0049), followed by the area code (without zero) and the individual phone number.

Throughout the country, the numbers used for directory enquiries are 118 913 (for local numbers) and 118 912 (for long-distance numbers).

Public phones are operated with phone cards, which are available at 25, 50 or 100 units and can be purchased at post offices and kiosks. Calling from hotels is generally more expensive.

Mobile Phones  
Mobile network technologies: GSM 900/1800.
Information for users of mobile phones registered with German network providers: Mobile phones connected to the E-Plus, O2, T-Mobile or Vodafone networks can be used due to international roaming agreements. The networks can be accessed almost anywhere in Poland. Travellers intending to use other mobile phones are advised to contact their network provider for detailed information.

Public Holidays  
1 January (New Year´s Day), Easter Monday, 1 May (Labour Day), 3 May (Constitution Day), Corpus Christi, Assumption Day, All Saints´ Day, 11 November (Independence Day), 25 and 26 December (Christmas).
The main holiday season is in July and August, as well as in the periods around Christmas, New Year and Easter.

Clothes  
Clothing which is customarily worn in Europe during the respective season should be taken. For the winter months, a warm coat or a fur-lined jacket is strictly needed. One should also not forget to take warm (if possible, fur-lined) and robust shoes.
Travellers are recommended to take a raincoat or corresponding rainwear.
